Russia detained Laurent Vinatier, a French advisor for the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue, accusing him of gathering military information. French President Macron called the incident disinformation and denied Vinatier's ties to the French state. Vinatier faces charges under Russia's foreign agent law. His arrest follows similar detentions of Westerners amid heightened tensions since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
