China selects first Hong Kong-based astronaut for its space programme
Tuesday, 11 June 2024 China's space agency has revealed its first astronaut hailing from Hong Kong, according to a report by South China Morning Post. A local policewoman, previously part of a secret technical services division, has been selected for the national space programme. Hong Kong's chief executive, John Lee Ka-chiu, praised this achievement as a "glorious" moment for the city.
