IndiaTimes Friday, 5 July 2024 ()
From July 13-18, Pakistan will ban YouTube, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok to curb "hate material" and sectarian violence. Backed by PM Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Gen Asim Munir, and Ishaq Dar, this follows X’s ban and alleged election tampering. The Punjab government aims to prevent unrest, previously arresting activists criticizing Imran Khan’s ouster.
