England schools to teach how to spot online fake news under government plans

The UK government announced plans to revise the national curriculum in England to teach students to identify extremist and deceptive online content. Education secretary Bridget Phillipson initiated the review to foster critical thinking following misinformation-related unrest after the Southport knife attack. Reforms are expected to begin in September 2025, aiming to protect children from disinformation.
