Hamas planned to exhume remains of British and Commonwealth soldiers from World War I and II buried in Gaza: IDF

Israeli Defence Forces discovered a 2022 plan by Hamas leaders to exhume British and Commonwealth soldiers’ remains from Gaza to prevent the UK from moving its embassy to Jerusalem. The plan included holding the remains hostage or demanding lease fees. Though the embassy move was cancelled, concerns persist that Hamas may use similar tactics in the future.
