Tropical Storm Gilma strengthened in the eastern Pacific Ocean, providing relief to coastal residents. By Monday night, no coastal warnings were issued. Positioned 720 miles southwest of Mexico's Baja California peninsula, Gilma showed potential to reach hurricane strength midweek, accompanied by sustained winds of 60 mph. Meanwhile, Hurricane Ernesto caused dangerous rip currents along the US East Coast.
