'Horrific': New Zealand PM offers national apology to people abused in care

New Zealand's Prime Minister issued a historic apology for the abuse suffered by an estimated 200,000 children and vulnerable adults in state and religious care facilities over 70 years. The apology follows a six-year inquiry that revealed horrific physical, sexual, and psychological abuse, disproportionately impacting the Māori community.
