Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum warned of retaliatory tariffs against President-elect Donald Trump's proposed 25% import duties. Trump announced the tariffs on Mexico and Canada, aiming to curb migration and drug trafficking. Sheinbaum argued the tariffs would be ineffective, causing inflation and job loss, solving nothing. Mexico did a lot to stem the flow of migrants, the president said adding that Mexico suffers from an influx of weapons smuggled in from the United States.
