Joe Biden cancels final trip to Italy as US President to tackle California fires
Thursday, 9 January 2025 President Joe Biden cancelled his scheduled trip to Rome, choosing instead to stay in Washington to monitor the response to the catastrophic fires in California. After meeting fire officials and approving a Major Disaster declaration, Biden decided to focus on overseeing the federal response. The trip included meetings with Pope Francis and Italian leaders.
