Massive fire breaks out at factory in Delhi leaving 14 injured and one dead

A firefighter was killed and 14 others were injured after a battery factory caught fire and collapsed in Delhi on January 2.

Up to 18 people were rescued from the factory in Peera Garhi, including two caretakers and a security guard.

The deceased firefighter has been identified as Amit Balyan, 20.

At least 35 fire engines were called in to fight the blaze, which was began the morning of January 2 and continued throughout the day.

A blast was later reported from the factory while the rescue operations were underway trapping some fire brigade personnel among other people inside.

The fire department has since issued a statement that the fire has been put out and everyone has been rescued from the factory.
