((sot)) "i know they said there's no recorded cases in mississippi yet, so i'm not really that worried about it.

((sot)) "i would be a little nervous, but at the same time i'd take precaution and try as much as i can not to get it."

Nathan bickering- msu student 0:33;09 -0:38 taking precaution is exactly what mississippi state university is doing for its faculty and students.

The executive director of the longest student health center doctor cliff story released a letter this week.

He said the university is restricting travel to countries that have been issued a level 3 status by the cdc.

That includes south korea and china.

The university is also discouraging travel to level 2 status countries which how include japan, italy and iran.

((sot)) "a couple of my friends have traveled recently through plane and being an out of state student i think that's it's really important to consider that and consider airlines and them possible being the main source of spreading the virus."

Megan hanna- msu student 1:09;02 -1:23;16 megan says shes relieved the university is taking action by restricting travel to certain countries.

But students have to also hold themselves accountable.

"each student needs to take in consideration that they are a part of a larger community and that they really need to value that and take precaution so it doesn't spread."
