Protest AccountabilityCity Council meeting to vote on review board

This morning.

Tonight, the huntsville city council plans to vote on a resolution requesting a citizens review board to examine the police department's response to protests earlier this month.

Waay31s sierra phillips is live with what we could expect tonight, sierra?

There are actually 3 similar resolutions on the table for tonight's meeting.

If approved, the huntsville police citizens advisory council would investigate what happened during protests on june 1 and 3 and they would report their finds back to the city council.

We talked to one protester who says she'll be at tonight's city council meeting to speak out against the actions of the police department.

Josephine davis spoke to the madison county commission yesterday, showing pictures of the injuries she said she received from being hit by rubber bullets during the june 3rd protest.

During his presentation to the council last week, police chief mark mcmurray said officers used tear gas and bean bag rounds to disperse protesters.

He said they don't use rubber bullets davis says she didn't believe that presentation.

"the sheriff's department and hpd were completely irresponsible, completely out of line and we need to see accountability for our officers."

> davis says she won't stop speaking out until accountability is taken...or a change is made.

Huntsville police told waay 31, they continue to stand by their actions and what chief mcmurray said at last week's presentation.

The meeting starts at 5:30 here at city hall.
