Safety Precautions For Return To The Classroom

Huntsville City students, as well as students all over Alabama, are seeing a number of changes as they head back to in-person classes for the first time since March.

Some huntsville city school students will return to the classroom for the first time since march.

With only three days to go, the district released a video showing parents what students will experience on a normal day.

Casey albright britton is live with a breakdown of some of the changes students will see when they head back to class.

>> reporter: guys, the video is about 25 minutes long and covers everything from how students will be dropped off at school safely and what happens when a student starts showing signs of coronavirus.

Here are the main changes, though, that your student will see.

The district says younger students will be sent to the gym where each student will stand on a socially distanced mark on the gym.

A teacher will come to the gym and walk those children to the classroom.

Desks will be regularly sanitiz ed.

For high school students, every other row of desks will be blocked off to keep everyone apart.

Every school building will have a clinic for regular students who just need regular medications and a safe room for students who may be showing signs of coronavirus.

Students will then be spaced six feet apart from each other in those rooms and nurses will contact parents to come pick them up.

Huntsville city schools is doing a staggered start back to the classroom.

Elementary and middle school students will be starting next week.
