This morning a chain of chaotic events in Wabash County leaves a 10-year-old boy in critical condition, a police officer shot, and a community hurting.

Fox 55's brianna dahlquist was on the scene where neighbors say they can't believe what happened.

Louis noirot was doing the morning garbage rounds on maple street this morning when he heard the first shot.

"around 7 o'clock i pulled up and grabbed the totter out here and set it back down.

When i went to take off, the corner of my truck got shot at."

Wabash police were already on their way to the home for a domestic call.

That's when they say 32- year-old william sendebach fired a shotgun at them from his front porch."officers did return fire striking him multiple times.

Unfortunately, sgt nick brubaker a 23-year veteran of the wabash city police department was struck in the leg by gunfire."

Brubaker was taken to a local hospital where he's expected to recover.

Police say sendelbach had life- threatening injuries.but police soon found out the situation was even worse than they expected."a 10-year old boy by the name of kayden was found to have suffered a stab wound allegedly the act was committed by his dad, william."

Kayden was airlifted to riley hospital in indianapolis in grave condition.neighbors are shocked."i didn't think this would ever happen."

Amelia delcamp and her friend issac rushing says their daughter and caden were friends."he was pretty friendly with arianna, a couple of kids picked on her on the bus and he let her hang out with him instead of being around all the jerks."landon and cayden hubbard say they used to play on the trampoline with kayden."

And then he moved to the brick house and we really never saw him outside anymore."

Starns and other neighbors wants answers.

"i feel like if that much commotion was happening over there then they had to have been on dcs's radar.
