Hathras gang rape case handed over to CBI, Centre issues notification

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will take over the case of alleged gang-rape & murder of 19-year-old Dalit woman from UP’s Hathras.

The case from Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras has sparked protests and outrage across country.

The CBI will re-register the FIR and then begin the investigation in the case.

The state government has been criticized over handling of crime in Uttar Pradesh.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath had recommended CBI probe in the case last week.

The woman was allegedly raped by four upper caste men on September 14.

The woman succumbed to her injuries at a Delhi hospital on September 29.
