Clay County Sheriff"s battles with AT&T for NCIC service

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office temporarily lost access to the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) after AT&T shut off the department’s service.

Clay county sheriff's department lost the national crime information center for most of the week after a-t-and-t shut off the department's service... fortunately that service has been restored... clay county sheriff eddie scott said the department noticed issues with their ncic system on september 28th... but earlier this week... the sheriff discovered a-t- and-t cut off the department's service... that was because of a lack of payment... sheriff scott said the department had kept up with payments since starting partnership with a-t-and-t in 2017... but they had not been billed for the service in over three years... the sheriff said a-t-and-t automatically shut off the n-c- i-c access without warning or giving clay county sheriff's a chance to make the payment.... "any and everything that we do is centered around this thing and for them to just up and shut the thing off, you know, it made us feel like hey, they don't really care too much about the safety of the public out here and sure not caring much about law enforcement.

Mississippi public service commissioner brandon presley helped the department by sending a letter to a-t-and-t officials voicing his concerns about cutting off the service...
