Alia..
Many of us..
Spending hard earned money on gifts this holiday season.
Don't let a porch pirate swoop in..
And steal that away.
Here's what you can do to protect yourself.
Sgt.
Matt ames with indiana state police says..
Stay vigilant.
Keep a look out for suspicious cars in the neighboorhood..
Or people out walking.
Install door cameras like a ring device..
Always request a signature for packages before being dropped off..
And report any issues to police.
As the pandemic increases online activity..
We're even more at risk to porch pirates.
"there was a study done in 2017 from the insurance agencies that stated that there was over 6 million packages that were taken off of porches here in the united states.
So this is a prevelent thing.
Porch pirates just grab and go and sometimes they're out of the area before they can even be noticied."
Sgt.
Ames says they will have more patrols on the streets during the holidays.
