The Raiders are 4-1-1 after sweeping Syracuse in the series opener and going 2-1-1 against (now) No.
9 Clarkson.
A game this year.
Despite a shortened first semester, they're off to a hot start holding a 4-1 and 1 record and are now preparing for e-c-a- c play.
Greg fargo: if we are going to be competing and there are championships to be played for then we want to be playing for them and we want to be winning them.
On november 20, women's hockey played the first athletic competition for the colgate this 2020 season.
But instead of a 20-plus first semester schedule, it was just six games.
Greg fargo: in a typical year it's like it's a full on sprint for us to get ready for that first game.
In a lot of ways it's like cramming for an exam that you're not ready for and you're never going to be ready no matter what you do and so having a little bit of time at the beginning of the year and starting when we did it felt really good to be honest with you in a lot of ways.
And certainly there's challenges that come with it we wish we were playing more games that's the fun part but it was great because we were able to really build a strong foundation for how we want our team to play.
This season, the raiders only have three e-c-a-c opponents: clarkson, quinnipaic, and st.
Lawrence.
In the first semester, colgate earned a 2-1-1 record over the number 9 natinally ranked golden knights.
Greg fargo: the season still young but what i like about this team right now is we're starting to really believe that we can compete among the best teams in the country and i think clarkson is always a good barometer for us.
.
None .
None eleri mackay: yeah i think the first six games i've just been really energetics and you can see the effort that everyone's putting in.
And i know with so many games during a normal season it sometimes gets a little tiring but wells fargo been saying this year we're not promised day tomorrow with everything going on so we've been focusing on each day and making sure we're having fun and making the most of it.
One of the biggest advantages to the raiders success is the support they have for each other in the program and outside of it.
Eleri mackay: even the community and hamilton if you look at twitter after every single game we had it's like every athletic team is supporting us and everyone's there every step of the way so i think that's what's been the best part of about this.
Greg fargo: i just think we have such a competitive group and when there's something on the line they want to prove that they belong at the top of college hockey and so that's what we're gonna do we're gonna do our best to put our program right there.> colgate players went home after their last game on decemeber 5 and return this weekend.
-- they will begin a quarantine period and then start to train in smaller groups unil everyone has tested negative three times and will have about a week to prepare together for their first game back on january 9 against quinnipaic.
We'll be right back
