Bad weather we had throughout the day has led to power outages overnight across the area.

It is a significant outage, affecting thousands of customers.

At last check just under 6 thousand customers are still without power... much of st.

Joseph has power once again after an outage last night that affected thousands of evergy customers in buchanan county.

Joseph...our first winter storm of the year included a little bit of everything... from rain to freezing rain, to sleet and snow...in many cases it was too much for powerlines and the trees that came down on top of them...this is viewer video from some sparking powerlines from 19th and angelique...the damage has kept line crews busysot dan hegeman/evergy community affairs manager: "we have a number of crews locally working on it.

We also brought in area crews to assist in the restoration effort."at the peak outage more than 13,000 customers were without power... most of them in buchanan county...many businesses closed early..evergy staff say the type of storm that moved through our area is the most difficult to deal with...sot hegeman: "the power company and the lines company, the ice storms are much more damaging than snow storms. due to the ice accumlates on tree limbs and then fall into the lines and snow doesn't really.

And the ice can accumulate on our lines too."evergy is still looking for your help to identify any problem areas they may not know about yet.
