Rival faction's students' wing and police clash in Nepal amid political crisis
Amid the political turmoil in Nepal, The students wing of the ruling Nepal Communist Party's (NCP) rival faction clashed with police during their protest against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in capital Kathmandu.
Oli in late last year recommended the dissolution of the lower house of Parliament after a factional feud in the party led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal threatened his superiority in NCP and automatically as the head of the government.
Nepal's Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda, lost a parliamentary vote of confidence after 19 months in office. His coalition government crumbled when the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist Leninist) withdrew support, forming a new alliance with the Nepali Congress. Former PM Khadga Prasad Oli is poised to take over leadership. Dahal's tenure was marked by instability, requiring five confidence votes.
