Amid the political turmoil in Nepal, The students wing of the ruling Nepal Communist Party's (NCP) rival faction clashed with police during their protest against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in capital Kathmandu.

Oli in late last year recommended the dissolution of the lower house of Parliament after a factional feud in the party led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal threatened his superiority in NCP and automatically as the head of the government.
