Sharad Pawar appeals farmers to return back, says 'don't give opportunity to Centre to blame'
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on January 26 appealed farmers protesting against the three agriculture laws in Delhi, to go back to their respective villages peacefully and should not give any opportunity to the government to blame them.
He said, "The way the agitation was handled today is regrettable.
We all sitting in Opposition support the farmers' cause and I appeal -- now you (farmers) should go back to your respective villages peacefully and should not give any opportunity to the govt to blame you." Earlier in the day, several violent incidences took place during farmers' tractor rally on the Republic Day in the national capital.
Sharad Pawar defended fielding Yugendra against Ajit Pawar in Baramati despite the latter's dominant win. Acknowledging his faction's poor performance with just 10 seats, Pawar credited the Mahayuti's women-centric Ladki Bahin scheme for its electoral success. He emphasized reconnecting with voters and learning from the results while refraining from commenting on allies' EVM allegations. Despite setbacks, Pawar expressed determination to rebuild his party and highlighted the contrasting outcomes between the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections as a key lesson.

The exit polls for Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 predict a comfortable majority for the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, signaling another term in power. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, comprising the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, Congress, and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), faces a significant setback as poll numbers suggest a loss of key constituencies.
Mahayuti's stronghold across rural and urban Maharashtra appears to have been bolstered by grassroots campaigns and alliance strategies. Meanwhile, the MVA is grappling with questions about its approach and leadership challenges.
