Prisons minister Lucy Frazer has announced a plan to support criminals as they are released from prison in a bid to reduce reoffending and ensure they have suitable housing.

Former Conservative MP Marco Longhi has defected to Nigel Farageβs Reform UK party. It comes as former Conservative minister Dame Andrea Jenkyns also switched sides to join the party. Mr Farage welcomed the news, saying Mr Longhi has "given up" on the Conservatives.

London Zoo has begun it's annual stocktake. Animal Operations Manager Dan Simmonds said the stocktake, which began on Friday morning, is expected to last up to a week as the zoo is home to more than 10,000 animals.

The shadow health secretary has urged Wes Streeting to speed up the process for social care reforms. Mr Streeting came under fire when he revealed the final report from the social care review would not take place until 2028. "I would encourage the Secretary of State Wes Streeting to be more ambitious, braver and to speed up that process and get those cross-party discussions going as swiftly as possible," Mr Argar said.
