A wicketkeeper should also contribute with bat: England's Ben Foakes
While addressing a virtual press conference in Tamil Nadu's Chennai on January 31 ahead of the first test match between England and India which will take place from February 05 to February 09 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the batsman of England Cricket Team, Ben Foakes spoke about whether a side (squad) should compromise on wicket-keeping skills by playing a better batsman.
Foakes said, "I think about the combination you need a blend of both.
You can't have someone who can't do wicket-keeping or make mistakes with the gloves.
It all depends on the balance." "At the same time, however good a keeper is, they have to contribute with the bat.
I think it depends on a few things, it depends on the balance of the side as well," he added.
