Budget is piece of paper if it'll not bring better law for farmers: Harsimrat Badal

Members of Parliament (MPs) of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) protested against new farm laws in the Parliament premises on February 01.

Speaking to ANI in the national capital, president of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Sukhbir Singh Badal spoke about the Union Budget 2021-2022.

Sukhbir said, "Budget only matters when it reflects that what you are doing for the country, what you are giving to farmers and what you are actually doing to revive the economy." Adding to it, SAD leader and Lok Sabha MP from Punjab's Bathinda, Harsimrat Kaur Badal told ANI, "Mann ki Baat didn't mentioned anything about the farmers.

I hope that in today's budget they will repeal three black farm laws and talk about bringing a better law." "Budget is merely a piece of paper if it will not mention anything about farmers," she added.

Farmers hit back over Chancellor's inheritance tax charge

The chancellor appears to have a fight on her hands with Britain's family farmers. In her Budget, Rachel Reeves closed a loophole to stop rich people investing in land to reduce their inheritance tax bills, penalising them with a new million pound tax threshold. But farmers in Cirencester have labelled the move "demoralising" and the deputy president of NFU Cymru Abi Reader warns it will lead to "economic stagnation". Report by Brooksl.
