Uttarakhand Govt announces Rs 4 lakh as ex-gratia to kins of glacier burst victims

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat briefed about the update of the glacier burst near Tapovan Dam in Chamoli.

He said that state government will give financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.

ITBP personnel have rescued all 16 people who were trapped in a tunnel near Tapovan area in Uttarakhand's Chamoli a glacier burst claimed lives of at least 7 people with around 140 people still missing.

The glacier burst led to the increase in the water level of Dhualiganga river, and subsumed nearby villages.
