Sacked govt teachers protest against police atrocities in Tripura

The Joint Movement Committee (JMC), a body formed by the terminated teachers on Feb 16 demonstrated a mass protest in front of the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.

The rally was held against the police atrocities inflicted on teachers on January 27.

Several teachers were injured after Tripura Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) resorted to a mild baton charge besides using tear gas and water cannon to disperse hundreds of protesting ex-teachers.

More than 87 people including teachers were injured during the protest.

About 10,323 teachers of Tripura had lost their jobs in March last year after the Supreme Court termed their recruitment process faulty.
