Foreign envoys apprised about landmark DDC, local body elections: Srinagar Mayor

A batch of foreign envoys arrived in Srinagar on February 17 for a two-day visit to the Union Territory of JandK with aim to assess the on-ground situation.

Srinagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Junaid Mattu said that the visiting dignitaries were apprised of the landmark elections of DDC and urban local bodies.

On the meeting held, Mayor further informed that key issue discussed was decentralisation of power and planning, empowerment of the grassroots representatives."The key issue discussed was decentralisation of power and planning, empowerment of the grassroots representatives.

I believe most important thing happening now is the empowerment of local elected representatives at grassroots level," said Mayor Junaid Mattu while speaking to ANI.
