Drone footage captures the rare sight of snow in Athens
The snowstorm, described by authorities as the most severe in 20 years, blanketed the city and its ancient monuments Tuesday and left parts of the capital without power and water.
On Christmas Eve, hundreds of Greeks gathered outside Athens City Hall to release paper lanterns and make wishes. The annual event in Kotzia Square, overseen by Athens Mayor Haris Doukas, celebrated the city’s spirit.
The Municipality of Athens organized the gathering.
