Manipur driver abducted by militants rescued, one suspect apprehended

A 49-year-old Tikaram Rizal of Kalapahar Bazaar who was abducted by the unknown armed miscreants has been rescued by the Kangpokpi Police on Feb 19.

The residents of Kalapahar had also imposed a lightning bandh along National Highway-2 at Kalapahar on Feb 18 demanding safe release of Tikaram and a Joint Action Committee (JAC) was formed.

Inspector General Police (IGP) Lunsieh Kipgen earlier said that they suspected Kuki National Front (KNF) to be involved in the case.

The police officials reported that the miscreants demanded a ransom amount of Rs 20 lakh.
