Chamoli disaster: Work underway to widen the flow of lake formed at Rishi Ganga

Work to widen the flow of the lake formed at Rishi Ganga in Chamoli is underway.

Indo-Tibetan Border Police jawans, SDRF officials and other organizations are carrying out this joint operation.

Officers are removing tree trunks, which are blocking the flow of the water.

This has increased the volume of water release from the lake.

Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar said, "Total body count appears to be above 90 including 70 bodies and 29 body parts.

Out of 29, some are of bodies found while the rest will be identified by DNA match.

Rescue and search operation continues in Tapovan tunnel and nearby villages."
