A venomous cobra coiled up around a scooter in eastern India, terrifying local residents until it could be rescued snake-catchers.
Swarup Kumar Kar, a resident of Bhubaneswar, Odisha, saw a cobra entering his compound on February 26.
The five-feet-long venomous snake had climbed up the scooter that was parked outside and coiled around the handle.
The terrified family fled upstairs after locking the door from inside and called Snake Helpline.
Snake rescuer Subhendu Mallik went to the house along with a volunteer Silka Seloni to catch the cobra.
Though a little tense, Silka held her nerves and caught the cobra with the help of a snake stick.
The snake was released in the wild later.
Subhendu said: βThe snake had just come out of hibernation after winter.
It had not eaten anything for two months and was very weak and limp.β
