'Centre used NEP 2020 as weapon to communalise': Rahul Gandhi in Tamil Nadu
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed Centre over the National Education Policy 2020.
Rahul said that the Centre introduced NEP 2020 without consulting teachers and students.
He added that NEP is used as a weapon to communalise and push a particular ideology.
The Congress leader also spoke on how to remove religion from political discourse among youth.
He was interacting with professors at St Xavier's College in Tamil Nadu's Tirunelveli.
“An education system is for our students and it is run by our teachers.
Any education policy has to come from a conversation with students and professors.
There is too much power being centralised in one institution (in the NEP).
This centralisation of power is going to damage the education system.
The positive side is that it is reasonably flexible on many counts.
But is a weapon to communalise, to push a particular ideology into Indian society,” he said.
Rahul added, “You don't want to necessarily remove religion from the political discourse.
As long as ideas are competing without hatred and anger, there is no problem.
Problem is when you say that you can't speak because you're from a certain religion.
Govt says they represent Hinduism but ideas they espouse have nothing to do with it.”
