Srinagar-Leh National Highway reopened by BRO after about 2 months

Strategic Srinagar-Leh highway opened by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) after over 58 days.

The highway was closed due to the thick layer of snow.

Snow clearance of Zojila Pass was a big challenge owing to snow accumulation of 30-40 feet, threats of avalanches and inclement weather conditions.

Inspite of all odds, the snow clearance operations had been conducted and completed by BRO.

This road is important from the strategic point of view, being the only route between Kashmir and Ladakh.

The route is a lifeline for the survival and economic development of people of Ladakh and for the security forces.
