'Choodi pahen ke baitha hu kya' kind of languages shouldn't be encouraged: Sitharaman

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attended 'International Women's Day' event on March 08.

She said, "In formal and informal engagements, most often we come across language, which is not intended to be bad, but is very patronizing and doesn't recognize implicit gender bias.

It is said in humour but that reinforces the mentality.

We should not encourage this kind of language, let alone using it.

It is said - 'choodi pahen ke baitha hu kya' to say that 'do you think I don't have courage?'.

We have to avoid this kind of expression."
