CAU-Regional Agriculture Fair inaugurated in Imphal
Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the CAU-Regional Agriculture Fair 2020-21.
The function was held at Central Agriculture University (CAU) Central Farm, Lamphelpat via video conferencing on March 8.
This year, the fair was themed "Agriculturally Vibrant and Self Reliant NEH Region".
The minister also virtually inaugurated various infrastructures including Model Fish Farm on Integrated System at Lamphelpat; Library Cum Dispensary, Nursery School Building, Food Processing Unit, and MTTC-VTC at College of Community Science, Tura, Meghalaya; Boys Hostel and Girls Hostel at College of Horticulture, Thenzawl, Mizoram; MTTC-VTC at College of Fisheries, Lembucherra, Tripura, and KVK Sepahijala administrative building in Tripura.
The inaugural function was attended by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Director General (ICAR, New Delhi), New Delhi Shri Abhay Mahajan, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Organising Secretary, Deen Dayal Upadhya Shodh Sansthan among other dignitaries.
The National People’s Party (NPP), led by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, has withdrawn its support to the BJP-led government in Manipur, citing the failure of Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s administration in handling the escalating unrest in the state. The NPP’s decision, which involves its seven MLAs in the state legislature, highlights the growing dissatisfaction with the handling of ethnic violence and protests that have been intensifying since May 2023. Despite this move, the BJP’s hold on the government remains largely unaffected due to its strong majority. This development marks a critical moment in Manipur’s volatile political and security landscape, with the NPP accusing the Singh-led government of incompetence in managing the ongoing crisis.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has unveiled its fourth and final list of 38 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Arvind Kejriwal, the party's chief, will once again contest from the high-profile New Delhi constituency, a seat he won in 2013 and 2015. This marks a crucial moment in the Delhi political landscape, with intense competition expected, particularly with Congress fielding Sandeep Dikshit, son of the late Sheila Dikshit. As AAP makes its final preparations, the battle for Delhi intensifies with significant strategic shifts, including the replacement of several sitting MLAs.
