The family of the 13-year-old girl who died after sipping a Costa hot chocolate have called for greater awareness about allergies within the food industry. A man who assaulted an emergency worker during the riots in Blackpool has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison. Roger Haywood, 41, pleaded guilty to the charge. The government has announced it will push ahead with compensation payments to infected blood victims. Speaking about the scheme, minister Nick Thomas-Symonds said: "For affected people, I expect those payments to start in 2025."
