With the arrest of accused Raj Kumar Saigal, Thakurdas Mondal, and Munna Lal, Crime Branch of Delhi police busted the Kolkata-based gang of cheaters, indulged in the "Rice Puller" scam.
Accused persons formed many companies, all based in Kolkata, West Bengal.
These alleged companies further made some brokers across India.
The task of such brokers was to search potential parties and lure them to purchase their antique precious rare metal "Rice Puller".
The accused persons demanded money from innocent people in the name of testing of such radioactive material by ISRO and DRDO claiming to be an expensive process.
A Delhi-based businessman was duped by the gang to the tune of approx.
Rs 11 lakh.
In this regard, police registered a case, and an investigation was taken up.
During the course of the investigation, on the basis of scrutiny of CDRs of suspected mobile numbers and tip-off, the police team conducted raids at Kolkata and Faridabad and arrested all three accused.
