Union Minister Ramdas Athawale met President Ram Nath Kovind and sought President's rule in Maharashtra.
This comes in the wake of former Mumbai Police chief Param Bir Singh's corruption allegation against State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and Sachin Waze episode.
“I submitted a memorandum of demand to President Ram Nath Kovind.
I urged President Kovind to impose President's rule in Maharashtra.
President Kovind told me that he would think over my demand,” he said.
Param Bir Singh had written to CM Uddhav Thackeray suggesting Deshmukh’s involvement in corruption.
The state home minister has, however, refuted the former Mumbai Police chief's allegation.
Singh was earlier transferred so that cases pertaining to Sachin Waze were probed without obstruction.
Waze was arrested in connection with the Mukesh Ambani security threat case.
Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has affirmed the public's mandate for the NDA to form the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasised that no allies within the NDA alliance will shift their loyalties. During a recent Union cabinet meeting, discussions centred on the achievements of the government under PM Modi's leadership. Athawale highlighted that the cabinet unanimously decided to support PM Modi. Furthermore, he confirmed that in the upcoming NDA meeting, the alliance will back Narendra Modi's candidature for the Prime Minister's post.
