'CM Mamata's ship is sinking': Nadda on her 'opposition unity' call against BJP
After Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to opposition parties highlighting the "assaults" by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on "democracy", BJP president JP Nadda called West Bengal CM's move as an indication of 'sinking ship'.
"Everyone has right to unite with like-minded people, but gathering everyone against BJP is an indication that your ship is sinking.
There's a saying in English ,'Save our souls or Save our ship'.
Mamata has accepted her ship is sinking, it's an effort to save it," said BJP president while talking to ANI.
2nd phase of assembly elections in West Bengal will be held on April 1.
The BJP and its ally, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), have taken charge of Andhra Pradesh following a decisive TDP victory in the assembly polls. Chandrababu Naidu was sworn in as Chief Minister for the fourth time, with PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and JP Nadda attending the ceremony. Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister, and Nara Lokesh, Naidu's son, also took the oath along with 22 others. The TDP's support was crucial in helping the BJP form the government.

With JP Nadda's exit as BJP president imminent after his cabinet induction, the party is weighing options for his replacement. Front-runners include Vinod Tawde, K Laxman, Sunil Bansal and Om Mathur. However, a surprise pick from UP or the party's first woman president like Smriti Irani is also being contemplated. The choice holds significance as the BJP introspects over its poll setback and chalks out a course correction strategy under new leadership.
