Tripura govt sanctions financial assistance to storm-hit families

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb informed that the state government has sanctioned Rs 95,000 to storm-affected families and shop owners, in the Asharambari area, Khowai district, Tripura on March 31.

Around 200 families will be provided financial assistance.

Those whose houses have been totally destroyed shall get Rs 95000 assistance, while damaged will be assessed of other's whose houses got partially affected and they will be compensated accordingly.

The high-velocity wind blew away the roof of local schools and destroyed several houses in the area.

"The Chief Secretary had inspected the area and provided immediate financial assistance of Rs 5000 to the affected families from the disaster management fund," Chief Minister Biplab Kumar stated.

He added that since this step has been taken to provide immediate assistance to the disaster affected population, it will not violate the norms of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election.
