US Capitol on lockdown as vehicle rams into 2 policemen
The US Capitol went into lockdown on April 02 after a car rammed into a security barrier outside the iconic building, which has resulted in two officers being injured, with one of them being stabbed by the driver of the vehicle, according to local media.
US Capitol Police said that the incident took place at the North Barricade vehicle access point along Constitution Avenue.
The Capitol complex remains in total lockdown, and no one is being allowed in or out of any Capitol buildings.
The incident follows months after January 6 when a group of Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol to protest legislators confirming electoral slates from battleground US states they thought were invalid.
Donald Trump has sharply criticized President Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden, calling it a “miscarriage of justice.” Trump questioned whether the pardon would extend to individuals detained in connection with the January 6 Capitol riot, who have been imprisoned for years. The pardon covers Hunter Biden’s felony convictions for tax evasion and purchasing a gun while lying about drug use. The move, which follows a previous denial by Biden, has sparked a heated debate, particularly as Biden had ruled out such a decision earlier. Trump’s comments emphasize the political nature of the pardon and highlight ongoing concerns about the legal implications of the January 6 riot.

U.S. Special Counsel Jack Smith has filed to drop federal charges against President-elect Donald Trump, reversing course on two high-profile cases. Smith, who led the Justice Department’s efforts in election interference and classified documents cases, charged Trump in 2023 with four felony counts, including conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and obstruct an official proceeding. Smith’s motion emphasizes that Justice Department policy prohibits criminal prosecution of a sitting president, regardless of the severity of the charges.Trump faced allegations of pressuring election officials to overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 victory and inciting the January 6 Capitol riots. Despite the dropped charges, the government maintains confidence in its evidence and legal merits. Smith, who Trump has publicly criticized as “crooked” and a “lunatic,” is expected to resign before Trump’s January 2025 inauguration. Meanwhile, Trump’s sentencing in a separate New York case has been postponed indefinitely, signaling further legal uncertainties ahead.

Donald Trump's involvement in the TikTok issue stems from his actions as President of the United States in 2020. Back then, he sought to ban TikTok over national security concerns, citing fears that the app, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, could potentially share user data with the Chinese government. His administration attempted to force ByteDance to sell TikTok to a U.S. company or face a nationwide ban.
