Mamata Banerjee’s ‘gherao CRPF’ remark draws flak from BJP, EC seeks report

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee drew flak from BJP for asking women voters to gherao CRPF.

The TMC supremo was campaigning in Cooch Behar for the fourth phase of elections.

BJP's Shishir Bajoria lodged a complaint with the chief electoral (CEO) officer in Kolkata.

Bajoria demanded that Banerjee be stopped from campaigning and her party derecognized.

An official at the CEO's office said Cooch Behar DM has been asked to submit a report.

The eight-phase polling will conclude on April 29, results will be declared on May 2.
