Police crackdown in Kanpur, Indore over black marketing of remdesivir
Amid the shortage of anti-viral drug remdesivir in the country, police in Indore and Kanpur have begun a crackdown on the black marketing of the life-saving medicine.
Indore Special Task Force (STF) on April 15 arrested three people for their alleged role in black marketing of remdesivir and recovered six injections of the anti-viral drug.
Police said the accused used to sell these injections for around Rs 20,000 per dose, way higher than the market price.
Similarly, Uttar Pradesh Police recovered around 265 injections of remdesivir from three accused in Kanpur.
Remdesivir injections are said to be life-saving for critical patients of COVID-19.
As the MahaKumbh Mela 2025 approaches, Uttar Pradesh Police are set to implement cutting-edge technology for crowd management and security. With the installation of 2700 CCTV cameras, including AI-powered surveillance systems, authorities aim to ensure the safety of an estimated 45 crore devotees.
