COVID: BBMP to direct bodies to other crematoria to avoid ambulance queues

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) on April 16 decided to direct dead bodies to other crematoria to avoid queues of ambulances.

The decision was taken by the BBMP Commissioner Gaurav Gupta.

The Commissioner said, "We've noted incident involving queues of ambulances outside crematoria.

We've 13 electric crematoria in Bengaluru.

Only four were identified initially and one of them saw such rush.

We've decided to direct bodies to other crematoria."
