'Our best friend India has always been first responder': Maldives Foreign Minister
Maldives Foreign Affairs Minister Abdulla Shahid said that there is no comparison when it comes to international relations but country's best friend India has always been first responder.
"In international relations there is no comparison.
For countries like Maldives, we have only friends.
We don't compare friends.
But India has always been first responder and our best friend," said Maldives Foreign Minister.
Maldives Environment Minister Fathima Shamnaz Ali Saleem has been arrested under allegations of practicing 'black magic' on President Mohamed Muizzu, as reported by local media. Alongside Shamnaz, her ex-husband Adam Rameez, who served in the President’s Office, and two others have also been detained on charges related to witchcraft, purportedly aimed at gaining influence over Muizzu.
The controversy emerged on June 23, leading to the remand of the four accused for seven days. Shamnaz was subsequently suspended from her position as state minister at the Ministry of Environment on Wednesday, according to local media outlet Sun.

The Maldives has officially banned the entry of Israeli nationals into the country starting Sunday, June 2, 2024. The announcement was made by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihsaan, during a news conference at the President’s Office on Sunday afternoon.
