Tourists visiting a Thai lake had a scary ride back when a thunderstorm brought heavy rain and choppy waters on Sunday (April 25).
Footage shows the terrified day-trippers clinging to the wooden longtail boat as it bounced along the water at the Cheow Lan Lake in Surat Thani, southern Thailand.
Captain Sornram said: ‘People on the boat were scared because it was windy and dark.
They were getting wet and the strong waves were shaking the boat.’ The vessel returned to port safely following the strong tropical storm.
Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia and Indonesia are approaching their tropical monsoon rainy season.
Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
