Hurricane Beryl is barreling towards the Texas coast, posing a grave threat to communities and industries. Originally a devastating Category 5 storm in the Caribbean, Beryl has regained strength as a Category 1 hurricane over warm Gulf waters, with forecasts suggesting it could reach Category 2 before landfall near Houston. Acting Governor Patrick has declared a state of emergency across 120 counties, prompting school closures and preemptive flight cancellations. Major oil ports in Corpus Christi, Galveston, and Houston are shut down, anticipating disruptions to oil exports and refinery operations. As coastal towns prepare for Beryl's impact, emergency responders urge residents to heed evacuation orders due to potential power outages and severe flooding.
