Maryland's COVID-19 death toll is higher than officials previously realized.
Thursday morning, the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Vital Statistics Administration (VSA) said there are 517 additional cases where someone died from COVID-19 and the cases "were not properly classified by medical certifiers over the past year."
