A huge tidal wave swept a stray dog onto a coastal island in eastern India's Odisha on May 13, prompting a boat-bound rescue by forest officials.
The incident took place near the river mouth of the Rushikulya river at Purunabandha village in the Ganjam district, as footage shows the dog canine glancing at its saviours after it got marooned on the river island.
The stray dog was strolling on the beach in search of some food when it got swept away by the huge tidal waves into the sea.
The dog was left stranded on the temporary island, formed overnight at the river mouth due to the enormous flow of water, for two days as it had no means to return to the mainland.
Forester Mr. Somnath Mallick, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Amlan Nayak, and the staff of Berhampur forest division patrolling in the area rushed to rescue the helpless abandoned dog after spotting it.
