Shocking footage shows the debris at a corner of Collins Avenue on 88th Street in Miami, Florida, as the emergency services arrived and shocked locals gathered at the scene.

Witnesses claim to have heard people screaming beneath the rubble during frantic efforts to free them.

The collapsed building is believed to be a 12-storey apartment block named Champlain Towers South, according to reports.
